But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. James 1:22
This is a verse the Lord has shown me many times over and probably will another 100 times over. But today the focus was on the “deceiving yourself” part. Along with conversations I had with some people today and what the Lord is showing me.
We hear voices in our head, most chalk it off to just random thoughts, but are they? Actually if you come to know God, and live in the Spirit, then you start to understand the voices are from different sources. It could be your wandering thoughts, it could be something an evil spirit puts in your mind. And it can be of God.
Your circumstances are the same, they can be from God, or just random circumstances, and they could be of evil. The first thing is we must learn which is which. I have had many people over the years tell me that it is dangerous to dive into the spiritual world like that, and that the more sure and safer thing is to read your bible and listen to the men teachers. But is it?
The Lord has shown me that no it’s not, because the voices are there either way, and if you do not understand them and where they come from. You will side with the devil and his spirits. He makes himself to be light, and with the world pushing a politically correct agenda, and God is anything but politically correct. What the devil is telling you will sound like it is of God, when in fact it is the opposite.
The second thing is we are going to doers of something, you will do works as the bible calls them. The question is not of that but of whose works are you doing? Your own, those of God or those of the devil?
You can make your point that the bible is the word and we are to be doers of that word. But how? Do you practice the part of stoning to death the gay people, and those who are cheating on their spouse? Or do you follow what Yeshua said when the woman caught in adultery was brought to him and he said “let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.”
Many times in the bible there are contradictions. The ten commandments say do not kill or steal, yet many times the Lord told David and other kings to kill the enemy and take their spoils. King Saul spared the life of the king Agag when it was told to him to kill them all. This was the down fall of King Saul, disobedience.
So in your life what are you going to obey? If an opportunity came today for you to end child trafficking by killing a man, would you? Or would you refer back to “do not kill?’ The bible says to obey the political leaders but would you obey them to take the mark of the beast and put your life in hell?
Another example I see over and over on social media is how people push praying to saints and Mary like it is of God. As a past catholic I see how easy it is to do that. But it is one of the worst things you can do, a direct sin against the Lord. By following doctrine instead of God, you remain in the sin. But once you know the Lord, he will correct this in you, making it clear how wrong it is.
The point is there are so many different circumstances and no way to know what the Lord would expect from you, unless you know the Lord and his words to you, and those of the evil one and your own. We must know the Spirit of God in order to find the righteous way to live. The narrow path is soooo narrow, and it is easy to fall out on either side. That it is not possible to walk this line without the helper the Holy Spirit. He expects you to hear him and then be a doer of what he tells you. This is what God expects. Everything less is religion, but more than that it is a whore. In other words it shows itself to be the way, the truth, but it is not and by following any of them you are cheating on the Lord and will be held accountable.
Seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness! Seek him, he knocks but will you open the door for him?
