But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Matthew 16:23
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. Psalms 139:13-14
The teachings this morning are really summed up by the same old message, know him and obey him. Yashua is not a book like the bible, he is not a religion, he cannot be taught by men.
When we look at the first verse in Matthew, we see how easy it is for us as humans to let our emotions rule truth. We think we are doing right and we quote this verse or that verse to support it, but the truth is we are doing the will of satan and not the perfect will of God.
I see this over and over in my life, the Lord pointing out many examples using the last few weeks of events happening in my life. As an example for mother’s day we went with my wife’s family to dinner and the subject of my wife’s dad came up who depends financially totally on the kids even though he is very capable o0f working to feed himself.
One of my wife’s sisters was saying how he had called her saying he had no food for a few days, and she did not have any extra money so she sent message out to the rest, and no one responded so she went the next day with food. Making herself to be some sort of saint according to the way my wife descried it, trying to bring shame on the rest. Fortunately for her and my relationship with the family (in keeping my mouth shut with these arguments). I did not hear the ongoing conversation nor care.
But here is the point, my wife argues there are bible verses which say we are to do this for our parents, but are we? The Lord has made it clear to me the old saying which works with all bible verses. “Give the man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for life.” A few years back I gave him equipment to do carpentry work, he was set to do some cabinets for a home we were building. Instead that weekend he decided to pawn them off and get drunk for 3 days straight. This same many was a a drunk all the years of the lives of the my wife’s family, beating them, sexually abusing them, leaving them hungry, he obviously is not a good man and not worthy of any consideration. Yet here he is, still the same selfish man expecting everyone else to feed him because he is too proud to work sacking groceries or whatever.
The point the Lord is making to me and in using the above verse when |Yashua spoke with Peter. Because Peter really thought he was doing good and protecting his good friend and savior Yashua. And this point is we see the things of God through the eyes of our belief system, how we were brought up, like culture. Because this seems to be a normal thing down here in Baja, the lazy ones are taken care of by the workers and enable them to remain not only lazy, but in sin and poverty. Never coming to know the Lord, we steal the things of God from them by easing their suffering because of their sin.
I have mentioned before about another guy who says he knows God and hears him, but he is going through something’s and keeps brining up to me the story in Acts about selling all we have and sharing it. So I asked Yashua about it, and he made a few things clear.
First he showed me the condo project I did and the owners in here. My idea was similar to the sell all and share thing. And in some ways it is happening like that. But we all have different ideas of how it should be, and who is in charge. And although it is working, it is with a lot of dysfunction and complaining about things that the Lord is showing me really do not matter except if you let it matter.
Yashua also made the point how the early church all had the opinion the end of times were happening and why they did it. And he made the point the Lord never comes in and tells you your views are wrong, he lets you stay in them until you figure it out. As an example when I moved to Baja at his command, I really thought I would be a missionary and poor for the rest of my life, which is completely the opposite of what has happened which is also according to his commands.
Second point Yashua made about it is it stopped. So if it was really what God wanted it would still be happening today the same. It was not necessarily sinful or wrong, it was just not the perfect will of God.
Which brings up another point, when you receive the Spirit many things change, but you do not just receive the light and all truth on the spot and understand everything. The Lord was also showing me many other things about my early life after having received the Spirit and what I thought was right, but later found to be a detour in my walk with Yashua. It was necessary for these detours to allow the Spirit to show you how these thoughts Are wrong and never work.
So back to this guy and sharing wealth. And why it would be wrong. The short is he spends all his money foolishly on cars and other things instead of living in his means. So where is the justice for me to work hard, save and build wealth to only give it to the one who took the 1 talent he had and squandered it? It would end up looking the same as the my wife’s family, just on a bigger level.
There are many other examples the Lord has given me, but hopefully you get the idea or the point. Which is we have our ideas of how God works when it is a lie. He knows how he “wonderfully made us” and knows what is best for us. He is not some god up in the sky who created this but now has no idea of how to handle it or what is best for us, and looking for answers from men. Although when we look at how the normal man lives it appears as this is the case.
As another example and as usual, a facebook friend had a post which was a lie about drugs and the cost of them verses other countries, so we had a normal debate about it. The basic difference between us is he sees this world as men rule it and are doing good for us with all these modern medical things, and completely ignores how the health of men is going downhill fast since they came out. And also ignoring the simple fact God knows all and knows what is best for us. And if these drugs and other medical procedures were what was best, he would have given them to us in the beginning.
As said there are many other stories similar, and one of the main points from it is how when looking at the craziness, I just want out of it. The people just keep coming at me expecting things for free, which is fine. I do many things without expecting to be given back just as the bible says. But at some point when the people become demanding and expecting you to do things because you’re a “christian” or the developer, or the one with money, or… whatever reason. And that we should adhere to their ways because3 of this or that bible verse which has been changed and distorted over the years. Or because of this or that teacher and what they said. This is when the problems come.
And it makes a point, which is when you try to do work for God in what you believe to be the right way. You get attached and people are demanding, like the 5,000 who Yashua feed and then the next day walked away. Men will use you over and over if you let them, and in a way not of God. The ways of God is to give the man a talent and then help him to accumulate 2. And if he does not and continues to walk in his dysfunctional sinful ways, have nothing to do with them. Yashua did not go after the rich young ruler when he walked away sad, and we are not to go after men who are not ready or willing to change. It does not matter if they are friends, business associates or family. Let them go, otherwise they will keep you in the same dysfunction. As an example my wife could not sleep the night of mothers day because of the dysfunction of the day.
Once again it all comes back to doing the will of God, obeying what he tells us and not jumping to our own conclusion of what God wants me to do, but instead what he tells you to do. If you hear and obey him, you will sleep like a baby, and let the other people deal with their own dysfunction and work it out with the Lord, or not if they choose the same path of sin and dysfunction. The other man must make decisions to change for themselves, you cannot do it for them. All we can do is lead them to the Lord who does the work in them. Telling them what Yashua is showing them, the truth he reveals. And because this truth normally does not sit well with the other person, they will turn and walk away, which is perfect, let them go along with their dysfunction.
