Your throne, God, will last forever and ever; you rule your kingdom with a scepter of equity. Psalms 45:7
This morning the Lord was teaching about equity or equality, but it is not what you or most people think. Most people will argue about equality and many do not follow God and argue against him because they see inequality in their lives and world. Or many believers still see the inequality of the world and cry out about it like anyone who is a “christian” and has money must help them. Many here in Mexico expect the church or its wealthy members to give them money.
Why we see equality in the form of money or lack of is beyond me. Yeshua talked a lot about money and the pursuit or love of it, and how evil that is. He never said money was evil, he knows we need it. But he said the “love of money is the root of all evil.”
Equality only comes from a righteous relationship with God. HE is the only one who can put the balance in your life where you get what is right for you and the next person gets what is right for them. The problem is most of us because we judge incorrectly, and because we do not have the Holy Spirit, we do not see what is righteous or in the equality of God.
One thing living in Mexico has taught me is all about equality. Much of Mexico is really poor. My wife’s family has a lot of poor members in it. But I also see why they are, they do not work much, just enough to get through the day. And they spend what little money they have foolishly.
Two of the biggest arguments my wife and her family get into are about these two issues. We work hard for our money, and make many sacrifices to accumulate wealth. Driving older cars and not getting new ones every year. Not going to starbucks or out to eat all the time. Not traveling much (although now we travel more often). And many more sacrifices, keeping our cost of living low so we could save and accumulate wealth.
Her family does the opposite, they eat in the streets and go to starbucks. They buy expensive sunglasses and handbags like gucci. They NEVER shop in the swap meet like us and laugh at my wife because she does. They always have new iphones and all the tech gadgets.
So this is the point, this is equity. You reap what you sow, you bear fruit according to what you sow. Much of the bible is about how to live a good life of sanity. And anytime we veer off that path we create inequity. The only way to stay on that narrow path is with the help of the Holy Spirit. Without him it is impossible, and you will not be pleasing to God.
There are a few times in the bible where servants of Adonai like Moses, did things he was not pleased with and they paid a price. Like Moses not being allowed to enter into the promised land. But lately reading through Samuel about David, it shows or makes a strong point. Because many times David went up against the Philistines or even the Israelites. But he never did it without consulting with Adonai first. If Adonai said no, he did not. But if he said yes he did. And sometimes Adonai told him how or gave instructions to follow. And David always did because he was a man after Adonais own heart.
I strive and work to be the same, a man after Adonai’s own heart. To only do his will, which his will creates equality, even in the smallest of details.
For example I remember once when first here in Baja, having a guy in a wheel chair come up to me and ask for money, so I gave him $5 pesos, about 50 cents at the time. So not much money. But the Lord put it in my mind immediately “why did you give him the money?” I said it was only $5 pesos, and the Lord responded “you do not know what I am doing in this guy’s life. You give to whom I tell you to give and not to give when I say not to.”
Yeshua said to feed his sheep, not feed everyone. This is mostly a spiritual thing, but it is also a physical thing. When I went through my really tough times in life and was flat broke, having just filed bankruptcy (which was caused by my and my ex wifes inequity in how we lived). No one gave me money, and I never asked. I worked my way out of it and rebuilt my life, this time on the rock of the Lord Yeshua instead of my own works.
As said many times from the teaching of Yeshua, this is where we get the “saved by grace” all wrong. We do not get it and believe it to be something different than what Paul taught, mostly because it is convenient and makes salvation easy. But it is the easy path. But this is the point, we go through life doing our own works, maybe becoming very wealthy or like some of my inlaws remaining very poor. There are extremes on both ends. But these extremes create inequity.
These are the works that Paul spoke of that do not save you, they are of your own. And we do them no matter what, everything we do is a work. The question becomes do you do those works of your own, like Paul was saying with the first part of the verse? Or have you surrendered in faith to the hearing and obeying of God so you do the “good works Adonais created you to do?” Your works of equality in him, because once again the only way to do good works in equality is to do them in him.
There are different aspects of the “walking in the Spirit,” and all of them are obtained only by hearing and obeying Yeshua the Lord and God. Your faith needs to be in him, not in what he did on the cross. Believing in what he did on the cross sets you free from the bondage and wages of sin gets you nothing, you will NEVER be saved by that. Now do not twist what I just said because the death of the Lord on the cross did accomplish the biggest things. Which was to die for the sins of the men who come into righteousness. BUT, those who remain in their sin and do not repent, then their sin remains. The inheritance of salvation and eternal life with God is in the receiving of the Holy Spirit and allowing the light into your soul to correct you. All of this is written in John chapter 3. It tells us clearly, “unless one is born again he cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. And then later in verses 19-21 Yeshua explains what that looks like.
Many have a false belief that because of their sinners’ prayer and religious beliefs, they are born again. But their works do not support them being born again, and they push the light away when the Holy Spirit tries to shine it into you to show you what you are doing wrong and how to do it right.
This is exactly why you still sin, you ignore the light or even worse call the light an evil spirit, when the truth is it is the Holy Spirit correcting you, trying to show you the “way” of righteousness according to the will of God.
To tie this together, his ways are the only righteous works and works of equity. These are the works he expects you to do. And you are very capable of doing them, we all have access to do the good works of God. The point is we ignore God when he tries to show us and help us, siding with our religion instead of God. And again that is your judgment, if you allow the Holy Spirit to correct you and you make the changes he shows you to make, then he will put his spirit into you after you have been cleansed. His Holy Spirit cannot live in an unholy sinful nature in men. A new man washed clean in the blood of the lamb must be accomplished before the Holy Spirit can live in you. Up to that point, if you are following the Spirit. He will show you things and expects you to work out what he is showing you or working in you. Once you have worked it all out, and been made clean and put on your wedding garments. Then he can and will live in you. This is the equality of God. He gives each of us the same opportunity and shows me favoritism towards some men over others. He does show favoritism to those who love and obey him. But it is not really favoritism. It is his form of equality. If we do the good works he shows us to do, then the blessings come. I have seen this in all aspects of my life, the main three are your Spiritual life first and foremost. Which then controls your physical and mental health or life. All of these will work in harmony in God. This may also include financial wealth or security. For sure it will mean he will provide, so you do not worry about what you will eat or wear… You may not know where it is coming from, but it will come. But also remember Yeshua said if you have two cloaks give one to him who has none. So understand both sides of this equality. You will have all you need, because you really do not need more than one piece of clothing (although most have many different clothes these days). But also the one who does not have will not be naked.
The equality of God can be tough, and it is impossible to follow if trying on your own understanding. And why King Solomon wrote “do not lean on your own understanding, but in all ways acknowledge the Lord and she shall direct your paths.”Equality in the
