You who are trying to be declared righteous by God through legalism have severed yourself from the Messiah! You have fallen away from God’s grace. Because it is by the power of the Spirit, who works in us because we trust and are faithful that we expect our hope of obtaining righteousness to be fulfilled. Galatians 5:4-5
I do not even know where to start to explain everything God is showing me, and how he is working out many of the things in my mind I have been saying. The first thing I will say is read all of Galatians 5 and focus on it, let the Spirit reveal things to you. But before you do, let me tell you again what God wants. Because as Paul points out above, it is not about legalism, you cannot obey the law good enough to please God and be saved. BUT, as Paul writes it is also not about this fake grace without works.
The entirety of the message or good news is we have the Holy Spirit to direct our paths, to tell us what to do so we do it right. And it is through this obedience or trust in what he tells us to do and then doing it. That we will obtain the righteousness we are supposed to obtain. Or I should say must obtain to be worthy.
Yeshua said many times to he who is worthy. The grace doctrine pushers hate that word and will argue against it, but they lie, they lie to themselves and others. The simple truth of the good news, and what God expects is we must hear him and obey him. Do not quench the Spirit, or ignore him. Let him show you everything about you and how to overcome your sin, making yourself worthy not by your own self-righteousness but by the real righteousness of God through obedience. This is the only way to make yourself worthy, this combination of what God works in you and what you will work out. As long as you are working things out and obeying the Lord, then grace abounds even when you fall short.
This walk with the Lord can and is confusing at times. I am a bit lost as I write this because of things happening in my relationship with my wife. I am seeking God more and more, and she is going the way of the world more and more. This has happened before, more than once. And it always ends up where she starts to see something, mostly after I stop teaching her and just pray for her, which I am doing.
I am not going to go into details about it, but as with many arguments people have, the focus or final straw was about money. More so the control of it.
This is just one of many things she has been doing to me lately. Things that are making it clear what God has been putting on my mind about just walking away from it all and living a simple life, growing my own food and living off the land and God’s provisions. Spending even more time with him while still trying to spread the good news that people just do not seem to want to know or hear. The Lord keeps showing me we really do not need all we have, and to live according to the world with all the headaches which come with it.
The other thing that was shown to me in a way like never before was while reading through Proverbs and how many times Solomon talked about living with a difficult wife. I know the verses, and read them before. But this time through the book it was as if they were there every day. And it is true, it is very difficult to live with a woman who shows no respect and only has you to pay the bills and clean up her messes all day.
Paul writes often about keeping the wrong people away from you, yet it is confusing because he also told some of the people if you are married to a non believer to stay in it. How do you stay in a marriage with a person who is not with God and can pull you away? It is better to live in the corner of the roof than with a contentious woman. In other words, to keep your distance.
I am still in the dark on this one a little, but am keeping my focus on the Lord and what he wants me to do, then simply obey it. The circumstances I am in are not mine, he put me here, he allowed us to get to this point. What happens next is not my deal. What is my deal is to live according to his word to me.
