Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Ephesians 5:6
So this one is a tough teaching, and hard to accept for me. For all my life I had the understanding that the “wrath of God was satisfied with what Yeshua did on the cross. And there are certain verses which taken out of context or twisted a bit. Make this sound like sound doctrine. But is it?
Many of the verses they twist for this doctrine come from Paul, and then you see what Paul wrote to the Ephesians which plainly states the opposite, that the wrath of God still comes on the sons of disobedience.
What we must understand is that simple point. All the verses which make us come to the conclusion that the wrath was satisfied, all say the same thing. That the sons of obedience, the wrath is satisfied because of the death of Yeshua on the cross. Because Yeshua reconciles us, or brings us into sonship by the hearing and doing of the word.
Which brings up another lie pushed, which is God no longer speaks to us, that the message is from preachers and teachers and the bible. But not God himself. This is a lie, I know God. I hear him and then obey him. Being a doer of the word and not just a heart. I know Gods heart because of this. He has shown me the things in me which are and were evil. He showed me how to stop doing those things and how to walk in righteousness in him. Then it was up to me to make the changes and obey or remain in my sin and disobedience.
The false grace gospel supports the problem, all these doctrines give man a licence to sin, and it is not that way. Yet man believes it is because they do not know God who will tell you differently so you can repent and turn from your disobedience. The problem is will you hear what is said here and seek God or remain in your sinful disobedience? Because men have an evil selfish heart, the vast majority won’t even read this, and if they do would put it off as a lie. And that is sad, because it is your eternal salvation and a good life you lose out on.
So to put this into practice, and to remind you of my ongoing lawsuit (not against me but my partner on a project). And God has tied my hands completely with it. I have zero say on any of it. And I am watching how God is orchestrating this to a level I never would have dreamt of. I am watching the wrath of God coming upon this man, and I almost feel sorry for him, have pity for him. But the Lord says clearly over and over in Deuteronomy “Your eye shall not pity him.”
Because we do not understand the Love of God on his terms, but on our own idea of love. We cannot understand how cold and decisive God can be. The real pain he inflicts on men who disobey. Even me and what I went through to get to where I am with God. When I was truly seeking for answers because of BIG pains. The first time I heard God speak he said “why are you not doing my will?” In other words why are you not hearing me and obeying me? The wrath of God was on me for my disobedience. The difference with me was I paid the price and repented and turned from my disobedience into a true believer and follower in Yeshua. Most go through the pain and suffering to remain in it, or take their life instead of repenting and turning to the Messiah. We must make Yeshua our Messiah, he can only save us by our obedience to his word spoken to us. He does not pretend it is all OK now because you say a prayer or go to church or whatever nonsense you believe is true. He does his work in his sons who hear and obey.
As for my enemy, the lawsuit guy. I pray for him, that his oncoming suffering would cause him to truly repent and come to know God and then obey. Because if he does not the wrath of God will get worse and worse. And who am I to get in the way of Gods will.
One last point the Lord made to me, tying a few verses together. God will make his enemy his footstool. In Psalms 110:1 it says “The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” Then God made the point if you are my friend, which I am. Then my enemies are his enemies.
I have had enemies before, and never seen anything like the pain coming to this guy. God has always protected me, and the outcome has always been favorable, but not without serious test in most of them for me. And never as bad as an outcome as I see this one to be for my enemy.
In the end, the teaching is this simple. If you hear and obey the Lord, then you walk in righteousness and the wrath is no more upon you. This does not mean you will not go through things to get to this point, because Yeshua said “And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.” Matthew 18:34 The point is we do pay our debt to God in order to pass into his Kingdom. It is in this suffering that we come to see his truth, his way, his idea of righteousness. And not our own truths ways and ideas of what we think is righteous. Mans ideas of these things and Gods are two very different things, and only a repentant man, moving from his sinful life separated from God into a righteous relationship of hearing and obeying him, will come to know the difference in the two views. Religion only makes this lie we live worse instead of better.
